Patient Alerts
Patients using medication for weight loss should beware if:
- Any advertisement fails to identify the actual physician name
- An aide, rather than the doctor, sees you on return visits
- The frequency of visits exceeds 2-4 weeks
- The doctor doesn't adhere to the standards of The American Society of Bariatric (weight loss) Physicians
Always remember:
- You must have a physical exam and blood tests
- A doctor personally must inspect each bottle of pills for accuracy before dispensing
Ask:
- If the doctor is Board Certified and a member of The American Society of Bariatric (weight loss) Physicians
- All fees to be disclosed in advance by phone or in writing
